JOEL FAN

The NY Times calls Joel Fan an “impressive pianist”, who possesses a “probing intellect and vivid imagination”. Critics and audiences acclaim the exuberant virtuosity and sheer enthusiasm of his playing, and his bold repertoire that embraces classical traditions and contemporary music of cultures all around the world. Most importantly, Joel Fan delights in taking listeners on a wide ranging musical journey that crosses boundaries and illuminates the rare and unexpected, “using music as a way of connecting humanity… one note at a time.”(NPR)

As a recitalist, Joel Fan has performed on four continents, from the Kennedy Center to tours of China, South America and Cuba. He’s practically reinvented the piano recital with his unique approach to programming, and he’s found an enthusiastic following on stages from the Ravinia Festival in Chicago, Jordan Hall in Boston, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

As a concerto soloist, Fan has performed over 40 different concertos with orchestras worldwide, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Pops, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, the Odessa Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony, and London Sinfonietta.
